This summer, Vagabund is taking its beer and its community back to one of Berlin's most extraordinary spots. Vagabund Brauerei has brought back the iconic summer location right in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Museumsinsel Berlin.

On Friday, July 10, 2026, Tropical Diaspora Records® will present a very special evening of live music and DJ culture. We are proud to host the Frank Bidin Trio, featuring the acclaimed musician Franck Bidin from Guinea-Bissau, accompanied by Ekna and El Medinaf, alongside a stellar DJ lineup spinning exclusively on vinyl.

About the Artist: Franck Bidin

Franck Bidin is a distinguished record producer, composer, and educator from Guinea-Bissau. Active in the Berlin music scene for several years, his work is deeply rooted in the stories of migration and identity. He was commissioned to compose music for the play Between the Lines. Briefe aus Bissau at the Deutsches Theater Berlin, a project that explored the connection between Germany and Guinea-Bissau. His connection to Berlin is further highlighted by his participation in Renato Gama's 2019 album Berlin, where he performed on the song "Liberdade". This concert marks a powerful return for Bidin, where his music will serve as a bridge between his Guinean roots and the diasporic experience.

For this performance, Bidin is joined by Ekna and El Medinaf, completing the trio and bringing his compositions to life with their musicianship and collaborative spirit.

The DJ Lineup: Tropical Diaspora Records Collective

The night will be soundtracked by the Tropical Diaspora Records DJ Collective, bringing the heat with an all-vinyl experience that spans the African and Brazilian diasporas.

• DJ Dr.Sócrates & DJ Garrincha (Tropical Diaspora Records) — Founders and residents of the TDR collective, known for their eclectic and deeply curated vinyl sets that tell stories of migration, resistance, and survival through sound. Expect a journey across tropical rhythms, Afro-Latin grooves, and global club sounds, all pressed on wax.

• Special Guest: DJ Gus — Hailing from the periphery communities of Rio de Janeiro, DJ Gus brings a raw and authentic sound to the Kolonnadenbar. A veteran of the Baile Funk movement since its early days around the year 2000, DJ Gus was deeply involved in the genesis and evolution of this powerful, community-driven genre. For this exclusive Berlin performance, he will deliver a Rio de Janeiro original Baile Funk set, showcasing the heavy bass, rapid tamborzão, and iconic samples that defined the sound of the favelas and became a global phenomenon. This is a rare chance to experience the true, unfiltered sound of Rio's funk carioca, straight from the source.

About the Host: Vagabund Brauerei

Vagabund Brauerei is a Berlin craft brewery founded in 2011 by three Americans who originally came to Berlin to start a band . Though their musical plans didn't work out, they turned their passion for beer into an award-winning brewery, known for its quality, small-batch beers and strong community spirit . This summer, Vagabund brings that spirit to the iconic Kolonnaden-Bar on Museum Island — a fitting full-circle moment for a brewery born from a musician's dream.
