[Berlin, São Paulo, Dec.2025] – Tropical Diaspora Records® announces its collaboration with Brazil’s Projeto Jusante to press the first-ever vinyl compilation of the collective’s essential work. Scheduled for release in 2026, this is a conscious union that connects Tropical Diaspora’s core mission—amplifying diasporic roots—with Jusante’s powerful poetics.
The synergy between Tropical Diaspora Records® and Projeto Jusante is profound. Tropical Diaspora Records® exists to bring to light music that emerges from cultural memory, resistance and lived experience, focusing on the unbroken lineages and contemporary dialogues of diasporic rhythm. The label is a guardian of context, ensuring that sound conveys its history.
These principles find a powerful echo in Projeto Jusante. The project defines itself as a space where ‘Brazilian rhythmic cells come together with beats and synthesizers to accompany poems, forming a creative and counter-cultural current.’ It is a confluence built on live instrumentation and the foundational pulses of Brazilian rhythm, composed by Dani Turcheto and mixed by Pipo Pegoraro. This organic bedrock is then entrusted to the raw, essential voices of the SLAM poetry movement. Curated by poet Anna Zêpa, Jusante brings together pivotal and representative SLAM artists, allowing their poems to travel on this authentic rhythmic current.
‘This collaboration is based on confluence, not fusion for the sake of following trends,’ says Tropical Diaspora Records®. ‘Jusante represents something real: the rhythmic cell, the living poem, the shared space of resistance. There is no appropriation here. If the music provides the riverbed, created with intention and respect for its origin, the poets provide the powerful, damless water. This is the kind of creative ecosystem we identify with: one in which each element retains its integrity and power within the collective flow.’
The upcoming vinyl release will feature a selection of Jusante’s most powerful tracks, offering a tangible artifact of this important cultural moment. It is an act of preservation and celebration, lifting this work from the ephemeral digital stream into the permanent, physical format of the vinyl record.
This collaboration marks a commitment to projects where music is a carrier of culture and poetry is a tool of sovereignty. It promises a listening experience that is both grounding and galvanizing, rooted in the specific soil of Brazilian counterculture and resonanting with all those who value voice, rhythm, and truth.
