Bésame Mucho x Riosentí

Tropical Diaspora® Records is honored to present the latest offering from Riosentí—a luminous acoustic cover of the timeless classic "Bésame Mucho," originally composed by the legendary Mexican songwriter Consuelo Velázquez in 1940.

"Bésame Mucho" returns to our ears through the voices of Riosentí. This time, it arrives as a call to love, to union, to tenderness—a call to encuentro in these times of change, where we find ourselves increasingly alone and war destroys peace.

"Bésame mucho, que tengo miedo a perderte, perderte después."
"Piensa que tal vez mañana yo ya estaré lejos."

A mother to her child. A daughter to her mother. A grandmother to her grandchild. Two lovers. An elderly couple. A friend to her best friend. The urgency of finding each other again—because love is urgent. The kiss is urgent. The embrace is urgent. The union of peoples, the reaching of hands. A call to return to love.

Bésame.

At Tropical Diaspora® Records, we understand movement as the defining story of humanity. Riosentí—the duo of Aline Novaro (Argentina) and Josué Avalos (Mexico)—are modern troubadours who map the emotional landscapes of the diaspora through sound. Rooted in the sonorous traditions of south-east Mexico and brought to life with the intimate strum of the guitar and the vibrant rhythm of the jarana, their music is a journey across borders, generations, and hearts.

Written by Consuelo Velázquez when she was only 16 years old, "Bésame Mucho" has traveled the world for over eight decades, sung in every language, carried across every ocean. It is a song of the diaspora before the word existed. It is a song of longing, of distance, of the desperate need to hold what we love before it slips away.

In Riosentí's hands, it becomes something new and ancient at once—a whisper from the highlands, a lullaby for the displaced, a kiss sent across the miles.
