Zoli Sway Unveils ‘Musicine’ – A Timeless Healing Journey Through Sound
The Award-Winning Johannesburg Artist Delivers Soul Medicine in New EP
Berlin, Johannesburg, South Africa – Zoli Sway, the award-winning singer-songwriter whose voice carries the soul of Soweto, releases her transformative EP “Musicine” – a potent blend of R&B, House and timeless African rhythms that delivers exactly what its name promises: healing through sound.
Born from 14 years of musical exploration and crowned by the Eminent Music Video Award for her single “Heaven,” this collection represents Zoli’s most personal work to date. “I don’t just make music,” says the artist, “I create medicine for the soul.”
The Alchemy of Musicine
Raised between her grandmother’s church solos and her father’s vinyl-fueled house parties, Zoli’s musical education was anything but conventional. “I learned performance by watching how music moved people,” she recalls. This organic training birthed an artist who doesn’t just sing, but heals through honest expression.
The EP’s standout track “Heaven” – a haunting tribute to departed loved ones – exemplifies Zoli’s approach. “It’s me talking to my angels through music,” she explains. The accompanying video, featuring Zoli lost in vinyl on her couch, delivers an intimacy that’s become her signature.
Collaboration as Conduit
Working with producer 1st Tape, Zoli crafted what she calls “timeless healing music” – a sound that defies easy categorization. “The mix has made it mine,” she laughs. “It’s R&B, but not as you know it.” Their creative synergy produced 12 tracks (37 minutes) that feel both deeply personal and universally resonant.
The Independent Path
As a completely self-funded artist, Zoli’s journey hasn’t been easy. “I pay all the costs – production, marketing, band, transport,” she shares. Yet this independence fuels her authenticity. “I’m not the next anybody. I’m the only Zoli Sway.”
A Legacy of Healing
Looking ahead, Zoli’s vision is clear: “I want my music to heal and last forever.” With “Musicine,” she’s created more than songs – she’s crafted a sonic sanctuary where listeners can exhale, reconnect, and find pieces of themselves.
