We're thrilled to receive a special vinyl pressing of Sotaques, the debut album from the collaboration between Serelepe and the legendary Pop&Jazz Orquestra—and we're proud to have produced it through our shop.
This is a landmark release: the first album in the 40-year history of the Pop&Jazz Orquestra, celebrating its founding in 1985 . What makes this record truly special is its bold fusion—it brings together traditional forró pé-de-serra with the full power and sophistication of a jazz big band .
The 55+ musicians on these eight tracks weave sanfona, pífano, and rabeca together with trumpets, saxophones, and vibraphone—plus tuba, seven-string guitar, berimbau, and cuíca, creating a rich dialogue between tradition and modernity . The album also features incredible guest appearances including Lia de Itamaracá (Latin Grammy winner), Ricardo Herz, Trio Macaíba, Eloá Puri, and Mestre Lua de Olinda .
This is the special edition LP, pressed in Germany, with stunning artwork by illustrator Manel Fogo inspired by the language of cordel—Northeastern Brazilian folk literature . It's a collector's piece that captures the vibrant spirit of this historic collaboration.
