Tropical Diaspora Records Proudly Presents "2" by Cuba's La Dame Blanche

HAVANA, CUBA – [Original Release Date in 2015] – Tropical Diaspora Records is proud to present "2", the powerful and explosive album from Cuban force of nature Yaite Ramos Rodriguez, known to the world as La Dame Blanche.

The album showcases her explosive mix of hip hop, cumbia, dancehall, and reggae, delivering a compelling sound that summons the spirits and ignites the dancefloor. La Dame Blanche is not just a musician; she is a visceral experience, channeling the raw energy of the streets and the ancestral wisdom of Afro-Cuban traditions into a uniquely modern and potent musical statement.

Her artistic identity is a bold declaration of empowerment, reflecting a journey that began in the heart of Cuba's musical dynasty. Before unfurling her captivating stage persona, Yaite traveled a long road. She was born into a family where parties were legendary gatherings of extraordinary musicians, vibrating to the sounds of thousands of songs and sacred drums. Presiding over this creative cauldron was the figure of her father, Jesus “Aguaje” Ramos, an exceptional trombonist and the artistic director of the legendary Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club.

This deep-rooted connection to Cuba’s musical heritage is the bedrock upon which La Dame Blanche builds her futuristic sound. Her partnership with Tropical Diaspora Records was a natural fit; the label, known for its curated selection of global bass, cumbia, and tropical futurism, provided the perfect platform for an artist who so fearlessly blends the traditional with the contemporary.

The album "2" was brought to life under the masterful direction of an international production team. French Sound Engineer and Beat Maker Marc Babylotion Damblé (Sargento Garcia, Amadou & Mariam, Orishas) took the production helm, while Argentinian producer Emiliano Gomez (El Hijo de la Cumbia, Ego 360), renowned for his fusion of Cumbia and urban sounds, provided the artistic direction. This collaborative spirit ensures the album is both a sonic assault and a meticulously crafted work of art.

Joining this flamboyant and orgiastic musical round is a slew of distinguished guests, including Philippe Cohen-Solal (Gotan Project), Toy Selectah (Control Machete), DJ Nakeye, Flaco Nuñez (Orishas), and a very special feature from her own daughter, Rachel.

The tracks on "2" are as rich in social meaning as they are in rhythm. Her lyrics are powerful claims to identity, feminism, and resilience, firmly rooted in the traditions of urban music yet speaking a universally urgent language. This album is a celebration, a protest, a ritual, and a party—all delivered with the unmistakable power and charisma of La Dame Blanche.
