To accompany the release of Projeto Jusante, we present a t-shirt that embodies the same principle of creative confluence. It is a wearable artifact of resistance, poetry, and rhythm.
On the front, we feature the original artwork of Projeto Jusante. This is more than a logo; it is the visual representation of a "counter-cultural current"—where the rhythmic cells of Brazil, created by Dani Turcheto, meet the raw, essential voices of the SLAM poetry movement. It carries the imagery born from the project's artistic direction, a symbol of the powerful, damless water that is the poets' word.
On the back, our Tropical Diaspora Records® logo stands as a guardian of context. It marks our role in bringing this music from the ephemeral digital stream into the permanent, physical world. As our label states, this collaboration is based on "confluence, not fusion for the sake of following trends." The back of the shirt, therefore, represents the riverbed—the intentional, respectful foundation that allows the project's powerful flow to exist.
As Dr. Sócrates articulates, Projeto Jusante is "an incredible succession of identities united in a powerful sound formula that transcends social divisions." It represents "social unity in diversity" and is "our hope." Wearing this shirt is a declaration of solidarity with those voices—the artists Nelson Maca, Kimani, Daniel Minchoni, Akins Kinté, Nathalia Kariri Leal, and all the poets whose work is "poetic terrorism" against oppression.
