Tropical Diaspora Records is proud to announce a vinyl repress of La Giravida, the landmark 2016 album by Argentinian genre-defiers La Fanfarria del Capitán. More than just a collection of songs, La Giravida—a name that fuses "gira" (tour) and "vida" (life)—is a sonic diary of a band in constant motion.

The album was a two-year odyssey, recorded in Buenos Aires, Kočani, Maastricht, Munich, Frankfurt, A Coruña, Barcelona, and Odessa. It features over 40 guest musicians, including the legendary Kočani Orkestar, and is a vibrant tapestry of Balkan brass, Latin rhythms, cumbia, rock, and tango—the essence of their self-proclaimed "Fanfarria Latina" . The album's global reach was cemented when the track "La Flor y el Libro" was featured in the third and fourth seasons of the Netflix global phenomenon La Casa de Papel (Money Heist) .

This repress (catalog TDR006RE) brings the album back to vinyl, remastered for optimal warmth and punch, with original artwork restored.

A Decade of Diaspora: The Tropical Diaspora Connection

The story of La Giravida on vinyl is inseparable from the story of Tropical Diaspora Records and the band’s long journey through Berlin.

The relationship dates back to 2012. At that time, the band was still known as Capitan Tifus . That year, they were booked for their first-ever Berlin concert, a pivotal moment that would define their European trajectory. The show was Tropical Diaspora Party Vol. 06 at the iconic YAAM club, organized and hosted by the label's founder and resident selector, Dj Garrincha . This was the spark.

"We are proud to announce the next vinyl production... Our relation goes back to year 2012 as the band was called Capitan Tifus. The band was featured in our Tropical Diaspora Party Vol.06 for the first time in Berlin and since then the band have played every year in the city."

This initial connection grew into a lasting partnership. The band, who evolved into La Fanfarria del Capitán, became a cornerstone of the Tropical Diaspora family. The relationship was so strong that when the band played the DokuFest in Prizren, Kosovo, in 2016, they invited Dj Garrincha to perform a special Tropical Diaspora DJ set for the festival's DOKUNIGHTS .

It was there, in the backstage of that Kosovar festival, that the idea for the vinyl edition of La Giravida was born . The band, who had known success with their 2016 CD release , and the label, whose journey with the band began in Berlin, decided to cement their shared history with this vinyl release.

"2016 this connection culminates in a Tropical Diaspora® Dj Set with Dj Garrincha in their 2016 Tour at the DOKUNIGHTS in PRIZREN, KOSOVO bringing tropical winds to the Balkans. In that very backstage in Kosovo we came to the idea to setup the project to press a vinyl edition of the great new album released until now only as CD."

Since that first Berlin show, the band has returned to the city year after year, playing iconic venues like the SO36 and the Karneval der Kulturen, while Tropical Diaspora has gone on to release all of their subsequent records on vinyl . This repress is a celebration of a journey—from a single night at YAAM to a worldwide diaspora of sound.
